Fat biking offers a form of cycling that uses specially designed bikes with oversized tyres to ride on soft and unstable terrain - opening up wild, remote environments that regular bikes can’t reach.

The experience begins with a preparation weekend in the UK in September 2025(date TBC).
The second part of the experience is five days in Northern Sweden, 21st - 25th March 2026.
Where
The UK weekend will be hosted in the New Forest, which will allow you to meet your fellow fat bikers and some of the cold-weather lessons in followed by some gravel bike rides.
The week in Swedish Lapland will be hosted at Allégården, the Jådåt Adventure winter headquarters. Here will be home while in Sweden and has immediate access to two frozen lakes, accommodation, dining facilities, and a sauna.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL - £2,350 if booked before 31st May 2025.
Normal price £2,595, which covers accommodation, food, guiding, equipment, airport transfers, and fat bike hire.
September 2025 - UK
New Forest Weekend
A preparation weekend to meet the rest of the team, ride together for the first time and see the bike, learn the equipment, and understand the cold.
5th - 7th September 2025
March 2026 - Northern Sweden
Bygdeträsk, Västerbotten County
Five days fat biking in Northern Sweden, progressing from day rides on iced roads and frozen lakes to a final fat bike excursion, staying overnight in a traditional remote Swedish wooden hut.

What’s included

You will be accommodated in Allégården, the Jådåt Adventure winter training centre.
You will be in a shared team room with the other course participants. There is plenty of preparation space as well as the classroom, dining room, and some gym facilities.

Vehicle transfers to and from the Umeå or Skallefteå airport in Sweden.

All meals will be provided when on the course both in the UK and in Sweden. This includes a continental breakfast, hearty lunch, and homecooked evening meal.
When in Allégården, you will also have the Swedish tradition of Fika, which is a short coffee break with something sweet to eat.

Specialist items such as vacuum flasks, sleeping bags, safety equipment.
What’s not included

We recommend flying early to Stockholm Arlanda and then catching a connecting flight to Umeå.
Flights to Stockholm Arlanda depart from Manchester, London Gatwick, and London Heathrow.

You will need clothing suitable for temperatures down to -20C.
We have some warm down jackets available for an additional price.
A thorough kit list will be provided on booking.

James Benson-King
Fat Bike Extraordinaire and Instructor
Benson, also know as the Biking Viking, is an adventurer, event speaker, and endurance cyclist best known for cycling over 20,000 miles from Alaska to Argentina. Benson now channels his passion for resilience, grit, and exploration into empowering others - both on stage and on bike trials.
He will be in Sweden as part of his training to become the first person to cycle solo unsupported to the South Pole in 2026.

Sam Cox
Chief Instructor and Cold Weather Specialist
Sam is one of the co-founders of Jådåt Adventure, expedition leader, and former Royal Marines Commando. His passion for the cold weather environment began on his first trip to Norway in 2014 and grew into an attempted Antarctic crossing in 2023.
From Antarctic expeditions to remote wilderness trips, he brings deep experience, calm leadership, and a love for helping people experience wild untouched places.
