The Sámi people have a rich and nuanced vocabulary for describing snow, reflecting the significance of snow and ice in their way of life. The Sámi language has over 200 words to describe different types of snow.
Jådåt means ‘good skiing conditions’ or ‘good skiing’.

A former Royal Marines Commando who has 13-years of experience leading teams all over the globe.
He fell in love with the polar environment on his first deployment to Norway, which led to him attempting a record-breaking solo unsupported Antarctic crossing in 2023.

A winter survival specialist who has a background in the British military.
Based in northern Sweden, he has trained and coached numerous successful expeditions to the North and South Poles.

A GP in the British Army who has deployed all over the world providing medical support.
Hugely experienced in the polar world, she was the assistant leader on the Ice Maiden expedition, the first all-female team to cross Antarctica using muscle power alone as well as being a key part of the Inspire 22 expedition to the South Pole.
She has won several ultra marathons, including the 6633, a 380-mile foot race in the Candian Arctic and is also on the Wilderness Expedition Medicine (WEM) Faculty.
